Success Stories

Somewhere in our archives we have a picture of Sophia and Arthur, who were photographed playing mommy and daddy in our mock family room as children here. When Sophia and Arthur did actually marry and begin their family, they lived in an apartment and had a very low income. They now own their own home. Arthur owns a lawn service company. Sophia is a realtor. They have one girl and two boys in school here now. Two other boys of theirs are now in middle school.

Christine came to us at 19 with a young toddler. She was a single mom with a high school education living with her mother. She is now a practicing attorney and her daughter is doing very well in Heights Elementary School. They are off all subsidies and in our Ladder Scholarship Program.

David has a very bright, successful little girl now in Kindergarten. He came here himself as a toddler, as did his father before him. David is an X-ray Technician at Lee Memorial Hospital and goes to College full time as does his wife.

Ronald and his wife have four children. (Her children from a previous marriage were put into foster care when she went to jail.) Ronald's mother, who works at the School Board, sought and was granted custody of their 8-month-old twins, who are in school here along with the couple's two and three year olds, of whom Ronald has legal custody. All of them live with his parents. They participate in our matching grant program.

Jack is a single father, who owns his own company, has a four year old in school here and one in Heights Elementary School. He pays the full cost of his child's care here.

Priscilla, who discovered life is not a fairy tale, has six children; a three month old with sickle cell anemia and two three year old twins in school here and also a school age kindergartener, a child in middle school and one in high school. She did live with her parents, but now has her own apartment, works at K-Mart full-time in an administrative position and goes to college as well.
